This week has been nuts. There has been a ton going on honestly and it has been a godsend that I have the stamina to handle it! Class has been full steam ahead. Not only has the bake sale passed but I just got through my first full blown festival. The Virginia Film Festival was great and it was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything. It was great to see a full scale festival up close and with an Industry pass at that. I definitely thank Shannon for the opportunity.
But enough of that. The festival was great. I really enjoyed the effort that went into development, primarily in the way they honored their sponsors. The aesthetic of the reel before the films was great. Each sponsor page was animated and it really showed that they wanted to show off the people that took the time to donate. The background matched well and thematically everything really flowed the way that I assume they intended. The parties also had a very sophisticated feel to them and really drew in an older audience. They put in a good deal of effort to appeal to an older audience at the parties while the screenings drew in the younger crowd, especially the UVA students. Overall, the experience really showed me a good example of what a festival can become and I hope that Visions grows to the same level.
