This week has been a week of solid progress! I have gotten confirmation of both locations at Leutze as well as Cameron so no anxiety to worry about there! On top of that I have heard back from Aramark and have their approval as well so all signs are a go for the bake sale! I did my final look through of the sign up sheets just to be safe and didn't notice that there was some overlap and that was my fault. I did absolutely slip up there but there is time to adjust (thank goodness for a broader theme).
Aside from that, I have been focusing in on helping with the other people in the Development department to make sure that everything is working out. I took a bit of an extended vacation back home though and had to help family put the final touches on their move. Otherwise I am just riding the high of everything sounding as though it is working in the right direction. I just need to work on my bio for the website and wait for the final touches for my costume. The fact of the matter being that this is all still a learning process and things will get better each time!

Week 7: Its Getting Closer!
This week has been rather slow but progress continues to be made! Our department meeting was mainly composed of us talking about what was talked about at the previous class meeting. For me personally, I just needed to continue to make progress with our new theme as well as editing what needs to be done for it. Most of my work came from ensuring that I really have done everything I've needed to and finally have finalized the reservations for both Leutze and Cameron.
There was a very anxiety ridden moment when I found out that Randall was taken!!! But thankfully my boss Adrienne was there to help me think through alternatives. Leutze was a solid second choice and thankfully we do have it! Aside from that I have now made progress in emailing Aramark and continue to wait to confirm that everything is good to go there. Now we just play the waiting game and hope that we don't have any hiccups down the way.
Either way...the event is coming ever closer!! Two weeks left!

Week 6: In Came Joaquin
This week has been slow, yet productive. Most of the week has been a continuous effort from the standpoint of the bake sale. It has all been consistent preparation and keeping in mind everything I need to do. We had changed the date from the Wednesday before the party to Tuesday, and now back to Wednesday. So it has been a struggle and thankfully Justin has been more than helpful at making sure everything is in control.
After giving my presentation in class on Tuesday, most of my work has been trying to make sure I am in line with what I need to do to keep on top of the event. I have overviewed the different sign up sheets as well as started to think up different ideas for decorations based on the very small ($10?) budget I have. I am just anticipating what might go well or wrong with the event but am aware of everything I need to do.
Aside from that I have made sure to keep on top of the spontaneous assignments that come up via facebook and just tried to do my best to endure the long term storm/rain that was Joaquin. It is just a never-ending state of preparation!

5 Site Recommendations to Help With Development
Here are 5 sites that I've personally found in doing research for the development department. I kept in mind not only my position, but the overall scale of what our department is in control of. So here they are:
1. 7 Tips for Crowdfunding Your Event for _____ Film Festival
http://www.indiewire.com/article/7-tips-for-how-to-use-crowdfunding-to-raise-money-for-a-film-festival?page=1
Though this link specifically goes into detail for the Atlanta Film Festival, it still gives us an understanding of someone who has gone down the crowdfunding route. How this helps us is that it gives us a first hand account of what to think about when working with our Indiegogo. It has someone who specifically has been in the same position as us and works to give us ideas of what may and may not work.
2. 10 Steps to Getting Corporate Sponsorship for Your Festival
http://marcatofestival.com/festival-organizers-blog/10-steps-to-getting-corporate-sponsorship-for-your-festival-or-event-by-ron-strand/
This site more works through the corporate level of sponsorship but still gives clues as well as hints as to what will work at keeping sponsorship in mind. Even for our festival, we are able to take what they have to say in mind. It goes through the entry stages all the way through finding and obtaining sponsorship. All we have to do is work through it from a local to more moderate level in a way of translating.
3. 25 Quick Fundraising Ideas for Non-Profit Events

In considering the fact that most of our events begin with a budget of zero, its good to keep in mind fresh ideas for fundraising Though this sticks to basic non-profit, there can still be ideas that we can glean from this as members of the development department.
4. The 20 Steps to a Successful Fundraising Ideas

So this site comes in handy for coming up a good checklist of what will make our events a positive success!
5. Budgeting and Staffing a Fundraising Event
